About The Empress Botanical Gardens (Pune)
The historic botanical garden is spread over 39 acres and has many rare species of flowers and trees. Once owned by the Shinde rulers of the Maratha Empire, in the era of British rule, it was renamed as the Empress Botanical Garden. This well-landscaped garden is home to abundant flora and fauna, a play zone for kids, snack area and lush green lawns. The Agri-Horticultural Society of Western India has been looking after it since 1880 AD. Empress Botanical Garden makes for a great place to take a stroll in the afternoon, learn about our flora in the flower exhibitions and breathe in some fresh air away from the city traffic.
